Gameweek 6 Review: All the key takeaways from every GW6 game

Couldn’t watch the games? No problem, we’ve got you covered. In this article, we’ll go through all the key points from Gameweek 6 and analyse every game from an FPL perspective

Arsenal Vs Leeds

Arsenal were the better side and had the better attacking approach, while Leeds relied on crosses and counter-attacks.

Saka: Apart from missing a one-on-one chance in the 96th minute, he did very little. It was a passive and underwhelming performance.

Ødegaard: An average-to-good performance. He found excellent spaces, took shots, and made good attacking runs. Although he didn’t create any chances, he could have scored, but both of his shots were saved.

White & Calafiori: I really enjoyed watching both of them. Their attacking runs were excellent, and Calafiori’s heat map shows just how advanced he was, with White also pushing forward frequently. White had 0.00 xG, while Calafiori recorded 0.55 xG.

Gudmundsson: He ranks above Bogle for me. He led many of Leeds’ attacks from the left and looked dangerous, although his two shots weren’t particularly impressive.

Justin: He had the most shots on target in the game (3). His excellent, well-timed attacking runs and positioning inside the box helped him score.

Madueke: He was active and played very well, creating the most chances (3) and recording the most touches inside the opposition box (8). However, he’s still not an FPL option for me.

Final Thoughts
Leeds showed they can be dangerous even against Arsenal, so considering one of their cheaper defenders might not be a bad idea. I see Calafiori as a season-long option, and I’d like to double up on Arsenal’s defence. I’m still giving Arsenal’s attack time to prove itself.

Aston Villa vs Brentford

Although luck played a part in several key moments, Aston Villa were clearly the better team against Brentford. With better finishing, they could have won the game.

Thiago: His assist was fortunate. While he created the most chances in the game (3), they weren’t particularly dangerous. He also registered just one shot, making it another disappointing performance.

Schade: He played 50 minutes before getting injured. During that time, he had four shots, three of which were off target. Overall, it wasn’t a particularly impressive performance.

Kelleher: Brentford have him to thank for avoiding defeat. His five saves kept them in the game and prevented Aston Villa from taking all three points.

Jackson: He looks like a player we can rely on. He gets into good positions and isn’t afraid to shoot. He finished with four shots and two chances created, making him an interesting differential option.

Manzambi: He put in a very impressive performance, getting involved in most of his team’s attacks and consistently making himself available. He recorded the most shots in the game (7) and created the most chances (3).

McGinn: He wasn’t particularly active overall, but he found himself in some excellent positions and failed to make the most of them. I expect we’ll be hearing more about him in the coming weeks.

Final Thoughts
Schade was the only Brentford player I really liked, but he’s now injured. Given the current fixtures, I’d prioritise Manzambi over Jackson for a transfer in

Chelsea vs Bournemouth

Chelsea were much better organised, with excellent attacking moves, effective pressing and good use of their chances.

Rogers: He made excellent attacking runs and had a strong presence in the box. He also scored a great goal and continues to maintain his good form.

Palmer: As usual, he focused more on playmaking and created 2 chances. However, unlike in previous games, he spent much more time inside the box.

Henderson: He positioned himself mostly in midfield and around the edge of the box. He had the most shots in the game (3) and also took set pieces away from Palmer.

Pedro: His stats weren’t particularly impressive, but as I’ve mentioned before, he has the ability to score from difficult chances — and he did it again.

Tavernier, Rayan & Evanilson: Rayan missed a one-on-one, while Tavernier didn’t register a single shot. Both had disappointing performances, and Evanilson’s goal was fortunate.

Final Thoughts
Palmer, Rogers and Pedro are the three Chelsea assets I want. If I had to choose between Palmer and Rogers, I’d still go with Rogers. For Bournemouth, Tavernier is the only player I’d consider once their fixtures improve.

Ipswich vs Fulham

Fulham were the better side against Ipswich, creating more dangerous chances but failing to convert them. Ipswich, meanwhile, defended well and made life difficult for Fulham’s attackers.

Davies & Ouattara: Both players made some good attacking runs and occasionally moved into the box. However, neither was particularly dangerous overall, and both had fairly average performances, aside from Ouattara’s superb goal.

Emerson: He created one big chance and hit the post, coming close to scoring himself. He was unlucky not to find the net, but he’s still not an FPL option for me.

King: He was slightly disappointing, finishing the game without a single shot. However, he created two big chances, which makes his performance more encouraging. I still believe he can deliver returns.

Garcia: He registered the most shots in the game (3) and recorded an xG of 0.67, but failed to score. Honestly, watching him throughout the game frustrates me, which is why I didn’t bring him in. I’m not sure when he’ll finally deliver.

Oscar Bobb: His stats might not attract much attention, but many of Fulham’s attacks came down the right through Bobb. He also missed a chance worth 0.49 xG.

Final Thoughts
For Ipswich, one cheap defender might be enough. From Fulham, I’d stick with King or Garcia, then sell them once their good fixture run comes to an end.

Sunderland vs Brighton

Brighton had more control of the game against Sunderland, pressing more aggressively and dictating the tempo. However, Sunderland also put in a decent performance.

De Cuyper: He made some good attacking runs from the left wing. Although he wasn’t involved in too many chances, he found himself in the right place at the right time to score.

Gomez: He registered the most shots in the game (4). As I’ve mentioned before, he’s a player who likes to shoot. He missed a one-on-one opportunity and couldn’t make up for it afterwards, but overall, he had a good game and picked up DEFCON points.

Gross: He continues to get forward and find himself in dangerous positions. He created two big chances, one of which resulted in a goal. Even with just one shot in the game, he remained a threat.

Kostoulas: I can’t say he had a good game, and his stats were terrible. He was completely unmarked when De Cuyper scored, but De Cuyper chose to shoot rather than pass. Perhaps Kostoulas will put in a better performance next time.

Le Fée: I liked his performance. He created three chances and was involved all over the pitch. He was unlucky not to get an assist, as Isidor hit the post from his pass.

Mukiele: For a centre-back, he had an excellent heat map, covering both the central and right areas of the pitch. He also registered three shots in the game.

Final Thoughts
I own three Brighton players, and I consider both De Cuyper and Gross essential picks. I wouldn’t recommend Le Fée when Dewsbury-Hall is available at the same price. Mukiele impressed in this game and could be worth monitoring in the future.

Manchester United vs Tottenham

Tottenham were much better than Man United and could have won comfortably if they had taken their chances more effectively.

Bruno: Almost a disastrous performance. He was barely involved throughout the game, didn’t get into dangerous positions often enough, and managed just one shot.

Mbeumo: In my opinion, he was Man United’s best player. He had two good shots and created two chances. The goal was down to the individual brilliance of Mbeumo and Cunha.

Solanke: He had the most shots on target in the game (4) and made excellent runs into dangerous positions. With better finishing, he could easily have scored at least one more goal.

Savio: He recorded the most dribbles and the most touches inside the opposition box. I mentioned last week that Savio could be dangerous at Tottenham, and I still believe that.

Final Thoughts
I’m staying away from both teams for now. If you can’t beat the team sitting 20th in the table even with an extra player, it’s difficult to trust you. As for Tottenham, they’re also an avoid for me at the moment.

Crystal palace vs Nottingham forest

Nottingham Forest were clearly the better team against Crystal Palace, but they failed to take advantage of their chances, missing 7 of their 8 big chances. Palace, on the other hand, made better use of their opportunities and came away with the win, helped by a bit of luck.

Gibbs-White: He was extremely unlucky. He had two big chances and two shots but failed to score. He also created several opportunities for his teammates, but poor finishing and bad luck prevented him from getting assists.

Delap: He missed two big chances despite recording an individual xG of 1.01. With better finishing, Gibbs-White could easily have picked up two assists.

Ndoye: He had a good game. his goal came from a defensive error by Palace,  registering four shots and eight touches in the opposition box — both the highest figures in the game.

Muñoz: Unlucky once again, with an individual xG of 0.41. He made excellent attacking runs and also created a big chance.

Larsen: He failed to convert two excellent chances and didn’t make the most of his opportunities. However, if he continues to get into these positions, I expect returns to follow.

Kamada & Pino: Both players were active and regularly found themselves in good positions. As I mentioned previously, Kamada’s involvement finally paid off as he found the net.

Final Thoughts
Gibbs-White owners, you were seriously unlucky! If I owned him, I’d keep him until the Ipswich game. As for Crystal Palace, I’d prefer to avoid their assets unless I really needed a differential and decided to take a chance on Larsen.

Hull city vs Everton

Everton and Hull City played out a fairly even game, although Everton looked more threatening in attack and had the upper hand going forward.

Dewsbury-Hall: As I mentioned last week, his bad luck finally came to an end as he found the net with excellent positioning. His assist was fortunate, but he still delivered the points. He also created the most chances in the game (4).

Barry: His finishing has improved significantly compared to previous games, and his goal was a good example of that progress. He registered the most shots in the game (5) and recorded an xG of 0.9, which suggests he might deserve another chance.

Tarkowski: He had very little attacking impact, but his 17 DEFCON points earned him 3 points.

Belloumi: Despite coming on late, he managed to score thanks to excellent positioning. He’s the only Hull City attacking option I really like.

Hull City Defenders: Their performances seem to vary from game to game, making them difficult to trust. If I had to choose one, Egan would be my preferred option because of his DEFCON potential.

Final Thoughts
Given Everton’s current schedule, I wouldn’t recommend bringing in any of their players. If you’re looking for budget options from Hull City, Egan and Belloumi are my picks.

Liverpool vs Manchester city

Manchester City were the better side, creating good chances and looking dangerous throughout the game. Liverpool also had some good moments, but they struggled to match City’s level.

Cherki: He looked extremely dangerous, influencing the game all over the pitch. He created two chances and registered the most shots in the game (5). I really like him and believe he could be an excellent FPL option.

Semenyo: He was unlucky not to get an assist, but aside from that, he didn’t have a particularly impressive game. He created just one chance and registered one shot, which wasn’t the performance I was hoping for.

Haaland: He could have scored a brace but missed a chance from Semenyo’s assist. Regardless, he’s still a must-have for me.

Doku: He was brilliant whenever he got on the ball, even if his involvement was limited. He created the most chances in the game (3). His assist was fortunate, but his goal was excellent. I think he has a good chance of becoming a regular starter.

Wirtz: He had an average performance, recording two shots and creating two chances in 60 minutes.

Barcola: His stats weren’t particularly impressive, but whenever he received the ball, he made Liverpool’s attacks more dangerous.

Final Thoughts
Honestly, none of the Liverpool players impressed enough for me to consider them strong FPL options. For Manchester City, with players returning, choosing the right asset will be difficult. Semenyo remains my first choice because of his minutes, but Cherki is an excellent player.

Coventry vs Newcastle

The match was played at Coventry’s home ground, and home advantage seemed to have a significant impact on their performance. Newcastle looked disorganised and lacked defensive cohesion throughout the game.

Cherif: He won a penalty and scored a goal, putting in a good and convincing performance. He could be a useful budget forward if you’re looking to save money.

Asante: He was one of the most active players on the pitch, appearing all over the field. He registered an assist and was unlucky to hit the post with another effort.

Thomas: He made a crucial block to deny Fernández-Pardo what looked like an open goal. He also picked up 22 DEFCON points, making him one of the best £4.0m defensive options.

Wissa: He played 78 minutes and registered two shots, with one on target and the other blocked.

Fernández-Pardo: Coventry’s new forward missed a one-on-one opportunity when the score was 1–0, with Thomas blocking his effort.

Hall: He had the most touches in the game (99), created one chance and registered one shot on target. Given Newcastle’s defensive issues, I’m not confident in their clean-sheet potential, but Hall remains an active attacking option.

Barnes: He played the full 90 minutes, created four chances and registered three shots, with just one on target. He also recorded six touches in the opposition box.

Nico González: His assist was a simple pass before Botman carried the ball forward and took the shot. He didn’t earn DEFCON points, but created the most chances in the game (6).

Final Thoughts
Newcastle’s defensive form is a real concern, but Hall remains an option for me. Coventry have won two games in a row, but it’s still too early to make any firm decisions about their assets.
